The ISO 50001 Foundation course is an introductory course that has been developed to provide users with an insight into energy management systems (EnMS) and the ISO 50001 standard. The objective of the course is to equip learners with the basic knowledge and understanding of the ISO 50001 specification including the implementation requirements, structure and stages of development and the standard’s various requirements related to energy policy, management system and energy performance. The course also provides learners with an overview of the methodology used to develop and implement an energy management system as well as an awareness of the energy efficiency opportunities related to the use and design of energy efficient systems. The course is intended for those who need to develop an awareness of the ISO 50001 standard as part of their duties such as plant managers, energy managers, and health and safety professionals.

The ISO 50001 Foundation Training does not have any prerequisites. It is open to anyone interested in learning about the standard. However, knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 would be beneficial.
